Book Review – Man 2.0 Engineering The Alpha

By now you have probably heard of the book Man 2.0 Engineering The Alpha. One of the authors of the book is John Romaniello, one of the best and most popular fitness bloggers out there. I have been following him for a while and I immediately ordered this book after hearing about it.

What Is It About?

Man 2.0 Engineering The Alpha is advertised as a fitness and lifestyle book but the lifestyle part is a bit of a stretch. It emphasizes changing your life by using diet and fitness which I actually like. Speaking for myself I had my shit together back when I was fat but my life improved even more when I started taking my health seriously. When you improve and control every aspect of your life it really does change your overall mood in ways you can’t really imagine. With all that said this book isn’t really going to offer much along the lines of positive thinking or any other advice for improving your life.

Tyler Durden is a great example of the traditional alpha male, albeit a fucking crazy example!

The book starts out defining the traditional alpha male and addresses the negative aspects of the traditional alpha male. After they define the traits of the new alpha male and go on to list their rules for an alpha male. This is probably my favorite part of the book and something every person can benefit from reading. The book is all about creating the best version of yourself and I personally plan on adding some of these rules to my own life and there are a few traits that I plan on trying to develop.

Optimizing Your Hormones

The focus of the book is optimizing your hormones through a combination of diet and exercise. Most people that try to create their own diet and workout programs have absolutely no damn clue what they’re doing even though they think they do. For most guys they start eating nothing but salads and sandwiches ignoring their fat and carbohydrate intake. They end up feeling like shit thinking they’re in “starvation mode” when really they have just caused even more damage to their hormones than their previous crappy diet was causing. Your average man in his 20s and 30s has the hormonal make up of a guy 15 – 20 years older due to lack of physical activity and poor diet.

What really sets this book apart from the rest of the fitness books out there is it addresses hormonal balance along with a detailed diet and exercise program. Most books out there will either give you a detailed exercise program with basic diet advice or vice versa, but not Man 2.0! Also when I say detailed man do I mean detailed! They give you all the scientific research to support their claims. Later in the book they give you all the formulas to figure out your protein, fat, and carbohydrate intake along with food lists and sample meal plans. After you get the diet handled they give you the workout program with pictures of the exercises. This book really is the complete package!

If this is you on a daily basis you will benefit from following the plan in this book!

This book is great for any guy who is looking to improve his body and change how he feels on a daily basis. I remember many days sitting at work not only being unhappy with my body but also just feeling tired all the time. This book will help you transform your body and mood along with giving you detailed knowledge of how your body functions. If you’re already working out, eating healthy, and still wish you felt or looked a little better this book is also for you. I really feel this is the most complete fitness book I have ever seen and I have recommended it to a few of my guy friends.

Why The Seduction Community Sucks

Wow who knew all I needed was one technique to pick up women?!?! Yes I’m being fucking sarcastic!

In my last post I covered the guys in the seduction community that I think others should follow. Today I want to follow up with why I think most of the “gurus” out there suck. Yeah it is a negative statement but I don’t really know of any other way to say it.

Faking Value

A popular theme in the seduction community is demonstrating value. Now first off this is necessary because you have to demonstrate that you’re a worthwhile guy. It is how you create attraction and is a skill all of us guys need to develop.

My issue with most of these gurus is that when they’re picking up women themselves they rely on demonstrating potential value and not developing their lives so that they have actual value. They talk about all the shit they’re going to do with their lives but never follow through on any of it. Another tactic is they use the same made up stories on women that they teach to their students. It is one thing to teach a story to a guy who has never talked to women before but eventually you need to learn how to tell stories from your life in an interesting manner.

Flash Game

Criss Angel picks up women because he is famous, pretty good looking, and probably a pretty cool guy. Not because he does magic!

Many of the gurus out there use shit like magic and psychological tricks to pick up women. Yeah that might work at last call on the drunk girl at the bar but that isn’t game. Go on a date with a lawyer who went to Stanford and you’ll just get a weird look if you perform a magic trick. If you want to practice magic then dress up like a clown and start working birthday parties.

Emphasis On Quantity

When teaching someone how to meet women most dating coaches preach quantity, talk to as many women as you can. Why you ask? Well they need the practice. Now after you have been doing this a while you should be at a level where it shouldn’t take hitting on 20 women in a night to get a phone number. In my opinion you should be able to hook 75% of the sets you approach.

Lifestyle Development

If you can’t pay your bills you have problems.

Most of these gurus that guys are learning from do not have lives that you would envy. Yeah they can get laid but they can’t keep a woman around if they wanted to. They can’t afford to pay their bills, have drug addictions, are mentally unstable, or in some cases all three. They don’t focus on lifestyle development at all. So not only is their game poor but they are awful people. Hell one of my friends paid for a 1 on 1 from a well known coach and the guy ended up jumping him in their hotel room while he was high on acid!

Overall it doesn’t take a lot to impress someone who is awful with women which is why these guys can get away with all this shit. This is  I emphasize things like lifestyle development and becoming the type of guy women dream of dating, not the guy they regret sleeping with!
